I’d only ever been for a weekday lunch before (the fish and chips not only comes with curry sauce, but wrapped in paper with a roasted lemon on top 🤩), so I was excited for my first Maple roast. It didn’t disappoint!

First and foremost, the big question when it comes to Sunday lunch… The roast potatoes were just as you’d wish, crispy on the outside and delightfully fluffy inside, thumbs up there 👍 Also important, all options come with cauliflower cheese and a Yorkshire pudding and there’s no charge for extra gravy (although you will need to request it).

This was a solid roast, and for the surroundings and quality of local produce the price point is fair albeit not cheap (3 courses for 2 adults, 2 course child’s meal, two alcoholic drinks and a soft drink came to £100). Use of local produce is something taken seriously at The Maple, with a map on the back of the menu listing familiar suppliers alongside food miles.

Inclusivity is important too. The menu is well labelled with the kitchen happy to make amendments where possible. There is an accessible entrance, and we noticed four legged friends are given a five star welcome too with blankets, dog bowls and treats provided! 🐶
If I’m looking for faults, as a parent I look for kids meal deals but here you have to pay for everything separately (mains £7, dessert £4, drink extra). That said, Bea loved the nuggets (‘the best ever’) and that the menu was a colouring sheet and pencils were provided.

The puddings were insane (I loved mine and B’s in equal measure) and I can say with certainty we’ll be back. Have you visited The Maple? 🍁
