I love smoked salmon and poached egg. My daughter loves cheese toasties. We both love brownies.

Put all these things together, in the gorgeous spot that is Gloucester Food Dock, and… Voilà 🤩
📍 Hetty’s Place, Gloucester Food Dock, GL1 2EP
Often when I try and take B for brunch, there’s nothing she fancies or it’s extortionately priced. So I was pleased to see here a 3 cheese toastie (£5), and that she loved it!

I also spotted toast with @singlevarietyco jam and choc spread, porridge, French toast etc on the ‘kiddos’ menu so all bases covered.

Mr E.E and I then went for:

💛 Avo & Hot Honey Halloumi: Toasted sourdough, smashed avo & chilli honey glazed halloumi & house pickled red onions with added poached egg and bacon.

💛 Rosti Stack. Potato rostis with poached egg, smoked salmon, house pickles, dill & lemon mascarpone.

🍓Strawberry Basil Lemonade
🍓 Iced Strawberry Matcha
I’ve reached my mocktail era (midweek at least 😉), and my lemonade was fab! I’m picky about my salmon, but this tasted fresh and there was plenty of it.

Looking at it I did wonder was there too much dill, but I shouldn’t have doubted, it was absolute perfection 👌🏻 Mr E.E enjoyed his too!
And the best bit? We still had room for dessert 😋 There was absolutely no chance I was coming to Hetty’s and not getting a brownie.

They are supplied by sister company Hetty’s Kitchen, which has won Great Taste awards and they’re even stocked at Gloucester & Tebay Services amongst others ❤️ We went for:

🍫 Dad Bod (Nutella)
🍫 Peanut Butter Caramel
🍪 S’mores Cookie
They didn’t disappoint. Can’t believe it was my first Hetty’s brownie 😭 I’ve been missing out!! Next level. Mine was the peanut and it was 🤤🤤🤤 We all ate half and then brought the rest home to spread the joy.

Reading Hetty’s story (she is a real person – more about her here) and the origins of Hetty’s Place (it’s the evolution of Hetty’s Kitchen, the brownie business, and Hetty’s Tea Party, a pop up tea rooms and market stalls), there’s a lot to admire.

She says she’s trying to recreate the special feeling she has from family gatherings with lots of good food, and I definitely experienced it eating her goodies with my tribe 🥰
It doesn’t hurt either that it’s in such a lovely spot! In the nice weather you can sit out (there is shade) or if you prefer to stay inside that’s an option too (although the aircon was too cold for Madame). Either way you get the view of the house boats in the dock!

Can you tell I’m a fan!? I was also excited about the fact it’s surrounded by fellow local independent businesses. We could smell the pizzas from down below at Bella Mia Pizza @ No 1, and I was eyeing up the ice cream in Wholly Gelato. I definitely want to go back to Gloucester Food Dock!

Don’t forget to save this post for your next Gloucester trip! 🗳️ and as always, thanks so much for reading.
Lizzie (and Bea, cause she really did love it as much as I did) xxx
