Where can you find an incredible value set menu (3 courses £15.95!) alongside a kids menu that offers 3 courses for £6?

Ad/PR 🍽️ Coal Kitchen, Cabot Circus, Bristol, BS1 3BX or Gloucester Quays, Merchants Road, GL2 5RG

With two incredibly central locations – Cabot Circus in Bristol and Gloucester Quays in Gloucester – Coal Kitchen offers great food at super reasonable prices.
The adults set menu runs from 12pm all day, everyday in Bristol, and in Glos all day Sunday to Thursday, and up until 5pm on Fri and Sat! We visited last week for lunch and had:

💜 Fior Di Latte Pizzette – hand-pulled sourdough, Italian mozzarella, fresh herbs, garlic infused olive oil
💜 Beef Koftas – Beef koftas, spicy tomato and red pepper sauce, fresh mint, toasted ciabatta
🍸 Passion Fruit Martinis

💜 Tagine Spiced Chicken Wrap – marinated grilled chicken, salad, harissa yoghurt, skin on fries
💜 Steak Frites (+£2 Supplement) – 5oz minute steak served pink, garlic butter, skin on fries

👧🏻 House hummus with carrot & cucumber dippers
👧🏻 Mac & Cheese with house salad

💜 a scoop of Callestick Farm ice cream for each of us – two clotted cream & strawberry, one chocolate
The total cost for the lot before service and drinks was just £40, which I think in this day and age is brilliant 💰 What matters though of course is how it tastes? And portion sizes! The pizzette was the ‘shock’, as I can find them underwhelming, but this was a big hit. (Had one at a very popular restaurant a few days later that wasn’t as good!) It also came in handy for mopping up the sauce that came with the koftas as that was really tasty too (as were the koftas themselves).
We were in sharing mode so split the steak (which is subject to a supplement, but still only then £17.95 for the 3 courses) and the chicken wrap. Of the two dishes steak was definitely my preference, it wasn’t quite pink enough for my liking but it was still delicious and the garlic butter was spot on.

May have dipped some of my (very generous portion) of chips to get the very last of it out of the pot 🤤 The wrap was a little too spicy for my dining partner but it didn’t phase me in the slightest – I’d say I’m average tolerance so it’s just one to avoid if you’re super sensitive.

The kids meal was a big hit with Madame. It comes with a squash but she’s not keen so they kindly allowed her to have a glass of milk. As a parent I was pleased at the availability of veg – B will often go for ‘cheesey pasta’ and she’s getting nothing else with it, but at Coal you can choose a side of fries, green beans or salad so she had a double salad helping 💪 The ‘Mac’ was rigatoni, but not a problem. The team also kindly gave her a little bowl of cheese to sprinkle on herself which is something she always asks for!

Drinks wise in addition to the set menu, there are some cracking cocktail offers with a selection spritz and cocktails available for £8 each or two for £14 if ordering the same. Or your usual variety of wine, beers, soft drinks etc (and a fab choice of mocktails). Worth noting also they do a Bottomless Brunch menu! Two courses plus 90 minutes of unlimited drinks (which don’t have to be the same – bonus) for £35 or £37 if you have the steak frites (which I absolutely would).
The Cabot Circus venue is large so if you needed a venue for a group it could work well. When we visited we saw a number of families and couples dining. Madame loved the red leather booths, but personally I’d rather sit in the bar area next time as it’s bright and full of foliage, which is more my thing 🍃 We also spotted a very cute well behaved dog – so they’re allowed if you were curious.

If you’re wondering what to do after lunch, you’re in the thick of the shopping district so naturally we were dragged to The Entertainer. Personally I’d rather hit up Hotel Chocolat 😆
It’s been years since I had visited Coal Kitchen, but I can’t resist a bargain so I’m sure I’ll be back again for one of their offers soon! 💜
