We visited on a Saturday so no deals available 🤦🏼‍♀️ but loved what we did eat and would happily go back to try one. This actually used to be Mr G’s local when living in Bristol, but it looks rather different these days – it’s recently been taken over by @dodopubco, who specialise in Neighbourhood pubs and Coworking spaces 💚

Pubs can be tricky with kids, but this one has definitely pulled off family friendly. It’s bright and beautifully decorated, tables are well spaced (iykyk), staff are really relaxed and friendly, there’s a garden (with shaded areas and a ping pong table!!) plus games and books for the little ones to use while there too. And the most gorgeous menu to colour in I’ve ever seen!

Menu wise, I’d visited another Dodo pub (Cheltenham) previously, so I had a feeling what might be on offer – pizzas and burgers! 😋 (There are wings too, but I’m not a fan… 🙈 sorry!)

We had:

🍔 The Big ‘D’: Beef Patty, Smoky Bacon, Onion Jam, Cheese, Ketchup, Lettuce and Burger Sauce in a Sesame Brioche

🐓 The Dirty Bird: Dodo Fried Chicken , Dill Pickles, Lettuce and Buttermilk Ranch in a Sesame Brioche 

🍕 The Nduja Bufala: Cotswold Nduja from @saltpigcuring, Buffalo Mozzarella, Yellow Tomato and Basil

🍟 Rosemary Chips

🧄 Garlic Dip

🧀 Cheesy Garlic Bread

👧🏻 Kids Cheeseburger & Chips

🍹 L.I.I.T (Long Island Iced Tea): Vodka, Rum, Triple Sec, Tequila, Gin, Lemon and Coke

Verdict: we thoroughly enjoyed it all! The standout for me was the chicken burger which was an absolute beauty – that coating on the dodo fried chicken was bloody delicious and a seriously large, moist (don’t shoot me!) fillet 😍 The pizza was the June special – so you only have (just over) two more weeks to get your hands on it. The dip I could have eaten ten times over, so so good 🤤 I may have even stuck the garlic bread in there… 🙈

Afterwards we moaned A LOT about the fact there isn’t a pub local to us with this sort of vibe… (Unless someone can set us straight? Cafe bars don’t count!) Luckily it’s only 30 mins from Clevedon (on a good day) and there are various parks/things to do nearby so it’s easily doable, even with a little one. Which is lovely, but I think I just want to go back and drink all the Long Islands… I tried one somewhere else a few days later hoping to recreate the joy but it was awful – The All Inn know what they’re doing!
